Alors qu’Internet est fréquemment associé à un excès d’informations et notamment d’images, "Falling Pictures" rend hommage aux moments où le contraire arrive. Caroline Delieutraz reprend ici le motif qui figure l’absence, l’échec de la diffusion d’une image, pour cause de source défaillante ou de lien rompu. L’image « en elle-même » ne disparaît jamais vraiment du réseau, mais sa délocalisation perturbe le fonctionnement des navigateurs, qui la remplacent par un autre tracé : un cadre vide, mimant le creux laissé par l’absence d’image, et un point rouge, dernière trace de vie.

While Internet is frequently associated with an excess of information and particularly of images, "Falling Pictures" celebrates the cases in which the opposite takes place. Here, Caroline Delieutraz takes up the motive which features absence, the failure of the spread of a picture, the deficiency of the source or a broken link being in cause.The picture in itself never really disappears from the network, but its de-localization disturbs the good functioning of navigators, who replace it with another layout : an empty frame, miming the hole left by the absence of the image, and a red dot, last hint of life.
