The title e.x.u.v.i.e.s refers to the shell an insect sheds during metamorphosis. Here, it names a series of textile pieces created in collaboration with Victoire Marion-Monéger, using a quilted jacket as a matrix, chosen for its material qualities as well as for its sociological and historical resonances.
Initially utilitarian and technical, the quilted garment was shaped by military and industrial histories before being reinterpreted and eventually absorbed into the global fashion economy.
The two artists explore its three-dimensional grid, which they emphasize and distort through a process combining digital manipulation and artisanal gesture. Textile production and the notion of originality lie at the center of this body of work, which develops through the repetition and shifting of motifs.
